A Great Big World
True to the meaning of its name, A Great Big World encompasses the GRAMMY® Award-winning artistry of Ian Axel and Chad King as well as the duo’s songwriting, scoring, collaborations, and projects across film, television, animation, theater, and beyond.
The world fell in love with their music across a series of acclaimed albums. During 2013, A Great Big World delivered “Say Something” with Christina Aguilera. It notably reached 6x-Platinum status, gathered over 1 billion streams, and garnered a 2015 GRAMMY® for “Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.” Their 2014 full-length debut, Is There Anybody Out There?, debuted in the Top 3 of the
Billboard 200 and went Gold.
Meanwhile, they continued to captivate with When The Morning Comes (2015) and Particles (2021). As creators who can write in either pop, folk, or even classical, their presence has unassumingly coursed through popular culture. Among countless syncs and licenses, the cast of Glee famously performed their song “This Is The New Year” in a 2013 episode, as well as their song “Rockstar”
shortly thereafter.
During 2018, they penned “Fall On Me” for Andrea Bocelli and his son Matteo Bocelli, and the duet graced the soundtrack and end credits of the film The Nutcracker and the Four Realms. They later wrote “Return to Love” for Andrea Bocelli and Ellie Goulding, and have since collaborated and released music with Ingrid Michaelson and Jason Mraz.
A Great Big World’s scope magnifies once again in 2023, during which they provided music for the popular children’s brand Slumberkins®, wrote and performed with Rachel Platten “Nothing’s Impossible”, the theme song to Studio Ponoc’s new animated feature film The Imaginary, and have several theatre projects underway. The pair maintain a commitment to vulnerable, clever,
earnest, and heartfelt songwriting above all.
Rachel Platten
Rachel Platten is an American singer-songwriter and author. After releasing two albums independently in 2003 and 2011, she signed with Columbia Records in 2015 and released her mainstream debut single, “Fight Song”, which topped multiple charts, achieved multi-platinum status and garnered legions of fans worldwide. Platten won a Daytime Emmy Award for a live performance of the song on Good Morning America. Her major-label debut studio album, Wildfire (2016), was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and featured the follow-up singles “Stand by You” and “Better Place”. Following the release of her second album, Waves (2017), Rachel took a brief break from music to focus on starting her family. She released her new song, Girls, in May 2023, joined A Great Big World as the duet singer with Ian Axel on “Nothing’s Impossible”, the theme song to Studio Ponoc’s animated feature film The Imaginary, and is creating more music coming in 2024.

The right musical score or an inspired song can elevate a film to new heights of emotions and make it memorable to generations to come. This magic does not happen often, but it has here: A Great Big World and Rachel Platten have beautifully crafted with “Nothing’s Impossible” a cinematic, soaring, and timeless song which will remain forever associated to the visual feast that is The Imaginary, the new feature film from Studio Ponoc. The song perfectly and beautifully evokes the amazing journey of Amanda and Rudger. Ian, Chad and Rachel, I hope to see you at the Grammy Awards and the Academy Awards to celebrate what I am sure is already a classic song in the making.

Several years ago I came across the extraordinary song, “Say Something”, performed by A Great Big World. I was transfixed and fascinated by Ian and Chad’s extended and beautiful melodies and voices. Years later I was thrilled to have the chance to offer them the opportunity to create and perform the theme song for our new film, The Imaginary.
I very much wanted a theme song that closes the film’s story with a powerful voice. Working closely with us, A Great Big World skillfully conjured “Nothing’s Impossible”, a song that wraps Rudger’s life in warm, inspiring layers and expresses the joy of his heart.
In a miraculous collaboration with the marvelous singer Rachel Platten, whose iconic ‘Fight Song’ has inspired millions around the globe, the life-affirming theme song “Nothing’s Impossible” weaves together the story of Rudger and Amanda, and of Rudger’s remarkable friends. I am deeply grateful to Ian, Chad and Rachel for the gift that is “Nothing’s Impossible”.
